RDC activity is an integral part of the activity of the Institute as a higher education institution.

The general guidelines of the Institute RDC activity are determined by the mission of the Institute and specific areas of its educational activity as an applied higher education institution specialized in Economics and Management.

The perspective and scope of scientific researches at the Institute are formed on the basis of the analysis of requirements and development trends of both the economy and society of Estonia, and the world at large.

The objects of scientific research are both enterprises (firms) and branches of economy of Estonia, as well as the processes occurring in the world economy.

It is possible to specify the basic areas of scientific researches of the Institute in 2008-2011 (their continuation till 2016 is planned) and to indicate leading experts In each of these areas:

• Problems of improving the strategic management and innovative management at enterprises, problems of creative labour management and conditions of self-actualization (a chief specialist, head of the subject A.Lukyanov - PhD, Professor, corresponding member of the International Academy of Higher Education);
• Problems of economic growth, problems of financial management and competitive growth of enterprises and especially in small business management (a chief specialist, head of the subject E.Bystrova - PhD., Professor);
• Problems of improving organizational structures and personnel management (a chief specialist, head of the subject P.Aleksejev - Ph.D., Professor);
• Problems of improving the efficiency of logistic processes, features of personnel marketing, crisis management (a chief specialist, head of the subject T.Savenkova – Doctor in Economics, PhD in Technical Sciences, Professor);
• Legal aspects of economic and business development (a chief specialist, head of the subject A.Melihova - PhD, AP);
• Employment and labor market in Estonia, problems of employment of university graduates (a chief specialist, head of the subject L.Nugis - PhD, AP);
• Problems of development of the construction market and the prospects of construction business (a chief specialist, head of the subject O.Sorkina - Ph.D, AP);
• Technique and experience in ecological research (a chief specialist, head of the subject B.Naumov - Ph.D., AP);
• Technique development and experience of quality systems formation at industrial enterprises (a chief expert, the head of subject A.Plotkin – PhD., AP).
• Problems of improving the organization and management at industrial enterprises (a chief specialist, head of the subject I.Korzun – PhD, AP);
• Ecological and socio-economic aspects of a power industry development, problems of formation and optimization of power industry of the Baltic countries, problems of functioning and development of higher education in the context of globalization (a chief specialist, head of the subject H.Barabaner - DSc, Professor, a member of the International academy of Sciences of the higher school, a foreign member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences);
• Methods of organization and management of foreign economic activity, including international projects (a chief specialist, head of the subject L.Golub - D.Sc., Ph.D in Technical Sciences, Professor).

The results of the researches are presented in scientific publications, in reports at scientific conferences, are being implemented through a system of contracts with the enterprises, and find reflection in the contents of study programmes.

Publications of the Institute are in high demand among Russian-speaking experts and education institutions not only in Estonia, but also in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Germany, the Czech Republic and other countries and it testifies their high international level. In the future, it is supposed to represent the Institute’s editions not only in Russian, but also in English.
